Cambridge Computer's Training Center features the latest storage technologies and ample resources for individual students. Each student is provided with both a Windows and Solaris server for multi-platform experience. Individually assigned disk and tape resources are provided via the classroom Storage Area Network (SAN). We provide individual stations for each student, including a server, tape hardware, large monitor, and free space to write. Our state-of-the-art Virtual Tape Library (VTL) and virtual disk server allow for both individual exercises and shared-resource configurations. The instructor works alongside students and can address the specifics of individual environments. All this technology translates into a better learning experience for the student, and better use of valuable class time.

Our training center is located in our corporate headquarters in Waltham, MA, just outside of Boston. Close to all of Boston's major roadways and minutes from the airport, it lies in the heart of Boston's "high-tech highway" area while remaining free from the rush of downtown Boston.

The following factors serve to further enhance the learning experience:

Networked Design
Our classrooms are networked with both Fibre Channel and Ethernet connections to simulate hybrid SAN and LAN environments. Students are encouraged to work with clients and storage devices on both types of networks.

Storage Hardware
Each student has an individual tape drive at his or her workstation to allow real, hands-on experience with backup devices. In addition, tape libraries and storage arrays are located around the room to enable students to practice with these technologies as well. SAN and NAS vendors often choose to showcase their equipment in our training center, so students frequently have access to additional equipment such as Network Appliance filers, tape libraries, iSCSI devices, and a variety of SAN hardware.

SAN Lab
Our SAN lab classroom allows students to gain experience connecting and configuring Fibre Channel and SAN equipment including switches, bridges, computers, HBAs, disk arrays, and cabling in a controlled, hands-on environment.

Cross-Platform
Our classroom is configured with a mixture of Windows and UNIX machines to allow each student to work on his or her preferred platform (or gain exposure to a new one!). Several of our classes are designed specifically to be taught in a cross-platform environment; these allow students to use multiple platforms at once to simulate today's heterogenous environments in the classroom.

Class Size
Our classroom is designed for class sizes of 8-12 students. This size allows for a substantial number of site-specific questions from students, as well as hands-on demonstrations on various pieces of hardware. Classes are small enough that each student can expect personal instructor attention.
